Planted is a nonprofit based in Arlington dedicated to providing legal, educational, and emotional support to immigrant children across Virginia. What You’ll Do
As a fundraising & marketing intern, you'll play a key role in amplifying Planted’s mission to support immigrant children and their families. Your responsibilities may include:
Fundraising Support
Researching and identifying potential fundraising opportunities, individual donors, and sponsors.
Assisting in communication between nonprofit board members, high school club sponsors, and students.
Helping coordinate fundraising campaigns and events.
Marketing & Awareness
Creating engaging social media posts and scheduling them on Instagram and Facebook.
Designing digital flyers, graphics, and newsletter content (using Canva or similar tools).
Drafting short blog posts or impact stories highlighting successes, client stories, and Planted’s community impact.
Community Engagement
Developing programs for high school clubs for implementation in the 2025-26 school year.
Updating supporter communications and ensuring donors receive proper acknowledgment and follow-up.

Strategic nonprofit fundraising
Digital marketing fundamentals: content creation, social media strategy, and email outreach
Storytelling skills that capture Planted’s mission and successes
Tools and platforms like Canva, Mailchimp, and social media dashboards
How to engage and uplift immigrant communities through communications
Leadership skills in coordinating and inspiring peers
Who We’re Looking For
High school students (rising 11th or 12th grade) in Arlington or nearby
Strong written communication skills and creativity
Interest in social justice, immigration, or youth-serving organizations
Dependable, proactive, and eager to learn and contribute
No prior experience required—enthusiasm and a willingness to grow are key
