Location: Hybrid virtual/in-person in Arlington, VA (4001 9th St N, Suite 220; by appointment)
Duration: 8 weeks (Summer/Fall), 5 hrs/week (flexible schedule), beginning the week of July 7

Position Overview

Planted seeks a dynamic Program Development Intern—a motivated college senior or recent graduate—to support the design and implementation of our legal and educational initiatives. This hands-on role provides invaluable experience in nonprofit program development, community engagement, and impact-driven strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research local immigrant needs and best practices to inform the development of new programs.

  • Liaison between the Board of Directors and high school interns to create and implement programs.

  • Support data collection and analysis to evaluate early outcomes and refine programs.

  • Help create outreach materials—including flyers, newsletters, and educational guides—for families and partners.

  • Help track program milestones and deliverables, with an emphasis on Planted’s SIJS efforts.

  • Create impact reports to share with sponsors and donors.

  • Updating supporter communications and ensuring donors receive proper acknowledgment and follow-up.

Qualifications

  • Current rising college senior or graduate in fields such as Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and leadership skills.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing and engaging high school students in a meaningful manner.

  • Passion for immigrant advocacy, community development, and social justice.

  • Proficient in Squarespace and Mailchimp; familiarity with basic data tools (e.g., Excel, Sheets).
